The Royal Burgh of Peebles Highland Games
The Royal Burgh of Peebles Highland Games began in 1972. The Games started as just a Pipe band and Drum Major contest but years later the Highland dancing competition began and attracted even more people to the event. Then later still, the Traditional Heavy events were added and these today include throwing the 16lb hammer {Scots style), throwing the 56lb hammer for height, tossing the caber, throwing the 28lb weight, and the spectacular 60yard dash in kilts by the heavy competitors.
Peebles Games are now classed as one of the most popular competitions on the circuit. On site at the Games there is always a good and varied selection of stalls which range from food stalls to stands with traditional Scottish craft products. Join us in Homecoming Year for all this and much more at The Royal Burgh of Peebles Highland Games which truly has something on offer for everyone.
