Tartan Day 2009
Tartan Day will celebrate Scottish culture, heritage, people and history in the heart of East Renfrewshire. Rouken Glen Park will offer an abundance of events and entertainment to celebrate all things Scottish! We will see a historical re-enactment which will fit in with our theme - showing warriors and invaders of Scotland through the Ages-a Celt, Roman, Medieval, Viking, Saxon right up to Jacobite-all incorporating the Tartan theme while putting on fighting displays throughout the day!
East Renfrewshire's Tartan Day will also incorporate an arts and craft fair, Scottish music, fun-rides and games! We will host a Tartan Day Duck Race down Auldhouse Burn which will also help raise money for one of our local charities. A Farmers Market will also be part of our celebrations as well as Haggis Neeps 'N Tatties being sold! A real taste of Scotland! Falconry displays and Highland Cattle will feature making this a fully-packed fun-filled day for all the family!
This year we are pleased to welcome our Town Twinning Partners from across Europe including our Twinning partners from France, Germany, Denmark, Sweden and England who will take part in East Renfrewshire's Tartan Day and showcase the products that you could find from their home town. We will also host a Scottish dinner and entertainment for our guests at the Uplawmoor Hotel.
