Stromness Shopping Week
For over 60 years Stromnessians have been coming home for Shopping Week. This unique week-long gala began in 1948 and has grown in popularity and scale year upon year.
This year sees the 61st Shopping Week and festivities begin on Sunday 19th July culminating in a magnificent firework display and open air dance on Saturday 25th July. Throughout the week there are a host of events suited to every age; from children's sports, arts and craft activities to local history walks allowing tourist,visitor and local alike the chace to learn something new about the town and its past.This year will see the Inverurie Pipe Band join us for the week to support our gala queen and attend various events throughout the week. Whatever your taste, there is sure to be something for everyone in our packed programme.
Stromness Shopping Week would like to extend an invitation as part of Homecoming Year to local and visitor alike. Whether you visit for the first time or the trip is an annual event, come along and have some fun.
