StAnza: Scotland's Poetry Festival
Held in the historic town of St Andrews, StAnza is a multi-faceted celebration of poetry in all its many forms. Scotland's only established festival focusing on poetry, StAnza includes many other art forms, from music to drama, from dance to visual art. The festival is a chance to hear world class writers such as Carol Ann Duffy and Ian Rankin in exciting, atmospheric venues, to meet and mingle with poets from across the world and to experience the way in which poetry engages with all forms of art. Scotland's Homecoming will see many poets from the country's diaspora appearing at the festival which will include reassessments of Robert Burns and Lord Byron, a fresh look at The Enlightenment and dedicated events considering the whole notion of homecoming and national identity.
StAnza will feature over 70 poets from New Zealand, America, Canada, Australia, Italy, Lithuania & across the UK including Carol Ann Duffy, Helen Dunmore, Peter Porter, Robert Crawford, Kate Clanchy & Sophie Hannah. As well as this, Scotland's finest poetry festival presents over 30 writers, artists, musicians, actors & film-makers to complement the poetry programme including Ian Rankin, David Mach, Sheena Wellington & Crispin Bonham Carter.
'For Scotland's finest poetry festival, bouquets and bucketfuls of deserved applause.' - The Scotsman
