Scottish Family History Fair and SAFHS Conference
The SAFHS Conference and Scottish Family History Fair will take place in Aberdeen on Saturday 25th April 2009. Everyone is welcome at this major family history event which will appeal to anyone interested in their Scottish roots, whether they are experienced genealogists or have yet to start researching their family history. The subject of the Conference is Finding That Elusive ancestor, and there will be talks by a number of experts in the field of Scottish genealogy, including one on how the National Archives of Scotland can support family and social structures.
The Scottish Family History Fair will take place in the adjacent Elphinstone Hall throughout the day. Entry to the Fair is free and no advance booking is necessary, Fifty stalls, exhibitions and displays will provide a wide variety of advice, information and materials relevant to Scottish genealogy, heritage and culture. There will be a series of short talks aimed at those interested in starting to trace their own ancestry. The Fair will be a friendly and relaxed occasion, and an ideal opportunity to meet people who have interests in common.
There is a Civic Reception for conference delegates the night before and further events are planned for that weekend for people who have travelled some distance and wish to spend longer in the area.
