I Murder Hate
Adrian Sherwood has been commissioned by The Tolbooth to write a new work especially for Homecoming Year.
For the commission Adrian will work closely and in collaboration with visual artist Graham Fagen who will also be showing a new exhibition of his work at The Changing Room gallery at Tolbooth. The exhibition will coincide with the performance at the Blend festival and gives a wider context to the commission.
Adrian and Graham have previously worked together on a project looking at the connections between Burn's politics in his poetry and contemporary culture, specifically Jamaican culture and the slave trade. Their Auld Lang Syne c/w The Slaves Lament and Downpresser project in 2005 can was the stepping stone to this new commission. Graham has selected Burns' poetry that is most relevant and evocative to the new work and Adrian will use these poems as the inspiration for his ideas to be performed live in this special event with a fantastic group of performers including Ghetto Priest, Skip McDonald, Peter Lockett and Little Roy.
