Edinburgh City Libraries and Information Service Homecoming Programme

Edinburgh City Libraries and Information Service is proud to celebrate the year of Homecoming in Scotland 2009. Come and join in our events, take part in our taster sessions, and explore our displays in libraries throughout the city.

Find out about your Family tree, listen to live Scottish authors, share the experience of reading Scottish authors in a local Bookgroup and find out more about photos on our digital 'Capital Collections' website. Check out local Portobello Book Festival, with author, 'Des Dillon', in October. Chill out in the Reference Room listening to 'James Kelman' on the 30th July; unwind to music and the poetry of 'Don Paterson' on the 7th August. Explore the magic of 'Robert Burns' in a display celebrating the man and his poetry 250 years on. Complete your 'Gathering of the Clans' experience with a visit to our Central library display. Go house hunting in 'History of House' week in November. Take a trip round the Central Library; see the bust of Carnegie- a most prominent Scot who established a world of libraries still flourishing today.
