Come Home to Museums in Fife
Come Home to Museums in Fife. Whether it's golf, or Robert Burns or your ancestors that inspire you, you'll find a museum in Fife with an exhibition or event to catch your eye. The internationally recognised British Golf Museum has a new exhibition, situated in the home of golf itself, focusing on the men's game since 1946 and bringing the historical displays bang up to date. One of the best, and least well known, collections of Robert Burns memorabilia and books will be brought out into the light and displayed at Kirkcaldy Museum & Gallery before being returned to its usual home at Dunfermline Carnegie Library.
Come Home to Museums in Fife and find out about your ancestors. St Andrews Museum is delving into what your forefathers' lives were like 150 years ago. A long lost Victorian painting "A Scottish Fair", discovered for sale in America, returns on loan to Kirkcaldy Museum & Art Gallery. The artist, Andrew Young, took many family portraits too and we'll show you how to interpret your family photographs. Gravestones and family history are featured at the Museum too. And if your ancestors were fishermen the Scottish Fisheries Museum will let you drop in and use their Research Library and Photographic Archive on special Mondays throughout the year.
Scotland is famous too for its innovation and invention. Visit the Andrew Carnegie Birthplace Museum - a weaver's cottage in Dunfermline and find out how canny Andrew used technology to make his money in the steel business in Pittsburgh. Follow the Innovation Trail at the Scottish Fisheries Museum and look out for arts and crafts innovation in venues all across Fife.
