Burns Light

Part of the 250th Burns anniversary weekend celebrations, you are invited to join a warm and vibrant mid-winter festival in Dumfries. Burns Light promises to be an amazing spectacle, with lantern processions through the old town.

Four lantern processions will wind through the heart of Dumfries, past the MidSteeple, Robert Burns house, medieval Devorgilla Bridge, and St Michael's Church where he is buried, with all processions meeting at The Whitesands for a spectacular fire show. Artists Alex Rigg and Trevor Leat are building a huge withy sculpture of Tam O'Shanter, which will be fired on the night. Enjoy the best of contemporary and ceilidh sounds on The Whitesands' stage, which will feature The Dangleberries, the Mary Barclay Band and Celtic Rock headliners Skerryvore.
