Borderlines
From June 14th to August 31st (on House Open days) the Mellerstain Gallery, in collaboration with Edinburgh's celebrated Scottish Gallery, is hosting a major exhibition of painting and sculpture both indoors and on the garden terraces. 'Borderlines' includes 'Lyrical Abstractions' sculptures by Hironori Kataguri and his wife Kate Thomson, returning, in the spirit of The Homecoming, to her Scottish roots, as well as work by many of Scotland's foremost modern artists, Archie Forrest, Elizabeth Blackadder, Perpetua Pope, Stephanie Dees, George Devlin, Frances MacDonald, Gordon Bryce, William Johnstone, Jim Morrison, Duncan Shanks, Sam Wade, and the venerable Borders artist the Earl Haig, still painting with extraordinary energy at ninety-one years old.
