Angus & Dundee Roots Festival

The Angus & Dundee Roots Festival will provide a focus for people whose ancestors came from Angus and Dundee (Forfarshire and the Mearns) to visit and find out more about their ancestral homeland. The festival will include a packed programme of specialist core events including help with personal family history research; workshops with local experts; a Burns Celebration Literary event including a special Burns book launch plus talks and readings; visits to archive resources and guided tours of local historic sites; specialist talks; demonstrations; heritage film shows; and fringe events including exhibitions, traditional music sessions, storytelling and lots more.

Closely linked is Fest 'n' Furious (2 - 4 October), Dundee's lively traditional and roots music festival, which will take on a 'transatlantic strand' to celebrate the wealth of roots music from Scotland and the United States, with additional events specifically tailored to the Year of Homecoming including workshops, and a Homecoming Hootenanny.
