West Lothian: Scotland on Your Doorstep

Head back to West Lothian and enjoy Homecoming celebrations amongst old friends. West Lothian offers all its visitors a fantastic experience.  With lots of green space, a fascinating history and excellent shopping you won’t want to miss us.  In addition to this our central location; conveniently located between Glasgow and Edinburgh, means you’ll find it easy to reach us.

Linlithgow PalaceWe have excellent transport links to both cities and are only 20 minutes from Edinburgh Airport. Across our county you will find a delightful selection of castles, palaces and stately homes.  A visit to any is a great way to find out more about Scotland’s past.

Historic highlights include Linlithgow Palace; a wonderful 15th century ruin where Mary Queen of Scots was born in 1542, Hopetoun House – Scotland’s finest stately mansion, Cairnpapple; our very own prehistoric burial site and Blackness Castle situated on the banks of the River Forth.

CanalWest Lothian offers the great outdoors in many different forms.  Take a pick from our 3 country parks, take a cruise along the canal, enjoy a woodland walk or enjoy any of the sporting activities we have on offer including fishing, golf and cycling.  We also offer a fantastic shopping experience - Whether you enjoy the buzz of a busy, retail centre or prefer to stroll amongst the specialist shops of our traditional towns - the choice is yours.   You’ll feel spoilt for choice in West Lothian.   We look forward to meeting you in 2009.
