Who’s Your Favourite Famous Andrew?
With the Homecoming Finale Weekend and St Andrew’s Day nearing, we’re taking a light hearted look at some famous Andrews and ask you to vote for your favourite Andrew.
Andy Murray
Born and raised in Dunblane, Scotland, Andy has found world-wide fame and success on the court. He is currently seeded as the UK’s number one tennis player and is 3rd in the ATP rankings. In 2005, Murray won the BBC Scotland Sports Personality of the Year Award and the sport section of the Top Scot awards.
Prince Andrew
From September 1973, attended Gordonstoun in Northern Scotland.
Captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews between 2003 and 2004 – during the club's 250th anniversary season.
The Prince's style and title in full: His Royal Highness The Prince Andrew Albert Christian Edward, Duke of York, Earl of Inverness, Baron Killyleagh, Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order, Canadian Forces Decoration, Aide-de-Camp to Her Majesty. In May 2007, Andrew was entitled to be called His Grace The Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

Rosalie Anderson "Andie" MacDowell (born April 21, 1958) is an American model and actress. She has received three Golden Globe Awards nominations. She has received the Golden Camera and an Honorary César. Of mainly Scottish descent - she has Scottish relatives on her grandmother’s side
Andy Stewart
Scottish singer and songwriter.The use of tartan patriotism and stereotypical Scottish humour goes back to Sir Harry Lauder and music hall songs. In the 1960s this strand was continued by the entertainer, Andy Stewart.
He had several hit singles - "Come in-Come in", "Donald Where's Yer Troosers?", "A Scottish Soldier" (36 weeks in the UK Singles Chart in 1961), "Campbeltown Loch", "The Muckin' O' Geordie's Byre", "The Road to Dundee", "Tunes Of Glory", and "Dr. Finlay" (1965). He is also remembered for being the compere of the The White Heather Club.
Andrea McLean
Scottish television presenter and former GMTV weather girl. In 1999, McLean joined GMTV as a weather presenter. Her bubbly personality and journalistic training brought her to the attention of various producers, resulting in her presenting shows such as "Our House"for UKTV Style, and as a guest panellist on Loose Women for ITV.
Andy Garcia
Andy García is a Cuban-American actor. He became known in the late 1980s and 1990s, having appeared in several successful Hollywood films, including The Godfather: Part III, The Untouchables and When a Man Loves a Woman. More recently, he has starred in Ocean's Eleven and its sequels, Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen.His Scottish connection? He starred alongside Scottish actor Sean Connery in The Untouchables!
Andrew Lloyd Webber
Andrew Lloyd Webber is an English composer of musical theatre, the elder son of organist William Lloyd Webber and brother of the cellist Julian Lloyd Webber. Lloyd Webber started composing at the age of six, and published his first piece at the age of nine.
Lloyd Webber has achieved great popular success, with several musicals that have run for more than a decade both in the West End and on Broadway.His shows have been enjoyed in Scotland for decades.
Andrew Marr
Born in Glasgow, educated in Scotland at the High School of Dundee, Craigflower School and an independent private boarding school in Musselburgh, East Lothian.
Andrew is a British journalist and political commentator. He edited The Independent for two years until May 1998, and was political editor of BBC News from 2000 until 2005.
He began hosting a political programme Sunday AM, now called The Andrew Marr Show, on Sunday mornings on BBC One from September 2005. Marr also hosts the BBC Radio 4 programme Start the Week. In 2007 he presented a political history of post-war Britain on BBC Two, Andrew Marr's History of Modern Britain.
Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol, was an American painter, printmaker, and filmmaker who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. After a successful career as a commercial illustrator, Warhol became famous worldwide for his work as a painter, avant-garde filmmaker, record producer, author, and public figure known for his membership in wildly diverse social circles that included bohemian street people, distinguished intellectuals, Hollywood celebrities and wealthy aristocrats.
In July 2007 the largest showing of Andy Warhol's work in Scotland went
on display in Edinburgh to mark the 20th anniversary of his death.
Andrew Carnegie
Scottish entrepreneur and philanthropist from Dunfermline. Carnegie was a Scottish industrialist, businessman, entrepreneur, and a major philanthropist. He is one of the most famous captains of industry of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.Carnegie gave away most of his money to establish many libraries, schools, and universities in America, the United Kingdom and other countries, as well as a pension fund for former employees.
