Homecoming Scotland 2009 celebrated the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns’ birth. We also celebrated some of Scotland’s great contributions to the world: golf, whisky, great minds and innovations and Scotland’s rich ancestry and culture.

Edinburgh International Book Festival Celebrates the Success of Homecoming

The Edinburgh International Book Festival, the largest celebration of the written word in the world, created a series of special events for Homecoming Year and provided a unique opportunity to celebrate Scotland’s rich literary heritage. Taking place in the heart of Scotland’s capital city, the Book Festival explored the quality and depth of Scottish literature through a packed programme of activity that featured the texts of Robert Burns among contemporary writings by A L Kennedy and others.
