Homecoming Scotland 2009

Homecoming Scotland 2009 celebrated the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns’ birth. We also celebrated some of Scotland’s great contributions to the world: golf, whisky, great minds and innovations and Scotland’s rich ancestry and culture.

The Scottish Borders has a long tradition of motorsports and look forward to welcoming Homecoming enthusiasts back to the country's only Cross Country vehicle forest stage rally. Taking place from November 28-29, the event combines breathtaking stage tracks with exhilarating, high speed, adrenalin pumping motorsport rallying.

• 100 stage miles, 20 liaison miles
• Forrest estate, St Johns Town of Dalry
• All private roads
• £295 entry fee
• Live results service

Who: Motorsport competitors from all over the UK, competing in fourteen stages over two days, comprising some 100 miles with only 24 liaison miles . Not on public roads.

What: Mainly 4x4 cars from all over the UK , enjoying a thrilling off road sport.

Where: Forrest estate, St Johns Town of Dalry, New Galloway. This top class venue has already hosted a round of the Scottish Cross Country Championship, the British Cross Country Championship ,and the Solway Coast Rally.

When: The Borders Hill Rally starts on Saturday 28th and continues on Sunday 29th November 2009

Spectator parking is absolutely free, and so is the admission. The Scottish Hill Rally Club welcomes safe spectators to their friendly motorsport. There is mobile catering and refreshments at the service area, plus toilets . Information on camping sites for the public and b&b's , hotels etc. Is cheerfully available from the Dumfries and Galloway tourist board at www.visitdumfriesandgalloway.co.uk.

Getting There: The event will be signposted off the A713 between new Galloway and Ayr. The grid ref for Forrest estate is NX591848, postcode DG73XS for your satnav.
