Homecoming’s Taste of the Tattoo set for Dumfries House
Against the imposing Palladian backdrop of Dumfries House, nestling within 2,000 acres of scenic Ayrshire countryside, sees the third of this summer’s complimentary lunchtime ‘Taste of the Tattoo’ presentations take place this Thursday, August 20th at 12.30pm.
Upon the beautifully manicured lawns of this magnificent stately home, 500 top-flight performers from this month’s sold-out showpiece event will provide a 70-minute taste of the 2009 Edinburgh Tattoo (until August 29th).
Featuring, amongst others, the dynamic drumming of Switzerland’s Top Secret Drum Corps, the acclaimed Central Band of the Swiss Army and the sparkling colour and folklore of the She Huo cultural troupe from Edinburgh’s twin city of Xi’an, the stage is set for a smorgasbord of inspiring multi-national and multi-cultural entertainment.
“Following last week’s hugely popular events in Glasgow and Linlithgow we’re thrilled to be taking our multi-talented cast to other parts of Scotland,” said Tattoo Chief Executive & Producer, Major General Euan Loudon.
“Homecoming Scotland is to be congratulated for creating this free opportunity to see members of our gifted 2009 Tattoo line-up in action outside Edinburgh,” he concluded.

Marie Christie, Project Director, Homecoming Scotland 2009 said:
“In celebration of Homecoming, this is the first time that the Tattoo Taster events have been brought to four unique locations across the country. Homecoming Scotland 2009 has a vast programme of events taking place across the country and throughout the year from small community events to major international events such as the Tattoo. It’s fantastic to be working with the Tattoo, not only to take these unique events across the country but also to celebrate Robert Burns within the Tattoo itself.”
