Sconestone.com to launch global initiative

Bruce Guthro supports “Journey of Kindness”
Halifax, June 18, 2009

Warren MacLeod with the SconestoneNova Scotia based Sconestone.com is gaining momentum before being launched on its never ending journey of kindness, which received support from Bruce Guthro, host of the Songwriter’s Circle last week at Casino Nova Scotia.

The Sconestone was passed around the stage which included talented artists Suzie McNeil, Rose Cousins, and Alan Frew the voice of Glass Tiger. The Sconestone will continue to travel Nova Scotia throughout this summer including special appearances at the Antigonish Highland Games and The Festival of the Tartans in New Glasgow.

Sconestone has teamed up with famous Scotland band, RUNRIG, to make this amazing journey of kindness possible. On August 29th, the Sconestone will make its official global send-off at their summer outdoor concert celebrating the year of the Scottish homecoming at Scone Palace, Perth, Scotland.

The Sconestone is a stone carving inspired by mysterious Pictish orbs of ancient Scotland, which will be passed, hand to hand, Keeper to Keeper, on a journey of Kindness around the world. The Sconestone will act as a symbol encouraging those who have touched it to pledge to do an act of kindness.

Keepers will keep the stone for no more than seven days, pledge to do an act of kindness, tell their story at sconestone.com, and then pass it along to a trusted friend who will continue the journey. “It’s important to recognize our culture, history, and heritage,” says Warren MacLeod, sculptor and Windsor, NS resident. “Many people’s lives will be touched around the world, and the stone’s journey is a great way to remind everyone that an act of kindness can be as simple as a phone call to a grandparent…or something extraordinary that touches hundreds or thousands of people.”

Sconestone.com will be the meeting place for people around the world to connect, watch as the story unfolds, and be part of the journey of kindness. Visit www.sconestone.com.

Sconestone are offering a variety of sponsorship opportunities.  Full details (PDF)....
