The Museum of Country Life and Costume at Dalgarven Mill, Kilwinning
Focussing on the trauma of both early and more recent emigrants in trying to pack their previous belongings into one kist or trunk to prepare for a new life in Canada, America, Australia or New Zealand. Featured in the exhibition will be a Tam O'Shanter (Scots Blue Bonnet) whose provenance can be traced to Burns, and a frock coat worn by a member of the Blair family (circa 1775) and a contemporary of Burns.

MARYMASS FESTIVAL

The one and only Marymass, is one of the largest community festivals in Scotland with over 130 special events taking place. Music festival, sports events, folk festival, horse racing, festival of light and fireworks display and a spectacular parade featuring only horse drawn vehicles.
MARYMASSACRE
A new production of this acclaimed play will be touring North Ayrshire as part of the Marymass Homecoming Festival.
WAULKING ACROSS NORTH AYRSHIRE
A programme of arts-in-schools activities to introduce primary pupils to the Gaelic language through a range of workshops including Gaelic song, traditional textiles and animation.
This builds on the success of a previous Gaelic Project which has resulted in the publication of the Wee Book of Gaelic to celebrate Homecoming. Now on sale, this delightful book is available from North Ayrshire Cultural Services.
LIVING IN THE SHADOW OF THE DYNAMITE
Another new publication for Homecoming detailing the life and times of Nobel Explosives and the people who worked there. Written by local man, Jim Millar the publication will be the basis of a future arts-in-education project to engage pupils in the history of ther area.
LARGS VIKING FESTIVAL
30 August to 6 September
Largs
Celebrating the town's historical heritage. Festival highlights include the Viking Village inhabited by real life Vikings, concerts, parade, skirmishes, markets and craft fair. The climax to the festival is an explosive fireworks display and re-enactment of the 1263 Battle of Largs and burning of the longship.
MILLPORT SONG CYCLE
14-26 September
Based on the history of Cumbrae, this brand new music theatre performance will involve members of the local Millport community and pupils from Largs Youth Theatre and Cumbrae Primary School. The event will take place as a promenade performance in and around the historic Garrison House.
