Fife's Highland Games
Fife has eight Highland Games stretching the length and breadth of the Kingdom, including the two oldest games in Scotland in Ceres and Burntisland.
Ceres was awarded the Royal Charter to hold a Highland Games after the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314 in recognition of the sacrifices made by the men of the village who responded to the call for arms on the side of Robert the Bruce.
Burntisland Highland Games is believed to have started at the time of Cromwell when the soldiers held races on the Links.
