'Glasgow by Night', by Gareth Talbot
What inspired you to take this shot?
Well - I was sat in a bar with a pretty girl showing off my camera....simple as that really! That said, we were discussing how Glasgow (and other cities) can be kind of schizophrenic - especially when considering day and night. I thought it would be interesting to take a few shots on long exposure and see what happens. And this is the result. The bus zooming past was an added bonus.
Why are you particularly proud of it?
I'm proud of this one because it gives a unique perspective of Glasgow at night and communicates a sense of movement and activity.
What does this particular location mean to you?
I have had a working interest in Glasgow Central station in the past, and it's also one of my earlier memories of Glasgow from when I was wee - I moved away at 10 years old, and moved back two years ago when I was 32. This part of town has been one the places I remember fondly.
Andy Hall, chair of the judging panel said that this shot showed 'creative spontaneity'.
