Falkirk Homecoming Scotland 2009 Programme

Welcome to Falkirk

Welcome to the Falkirk area, at the centre of Scotland and at the centre of Scottish history.

Midway between Edinburgh and Glasgow, and on the main route north to the Highlands, Falkirk is an ideal base for visiting Scotland.  With the world’s only rotating boatlift, a working Georgian kitchen, a nostalgic steam railway and Scotland’s national street arts festival, there are plenty of attractions in Falkirk and the surrounding area to make a great day out or short break.

Homecoming in Falkirk

The Falkirk WheelThe Year of Homecoming means that 2009 is the perfect time for a visit as there will be many special events in and around Falkirk.

See the local events page for details of Falkirk events added to the website so far.  More will be added throughout 2009, so visit this site again for the latest details.

And if you're looking for a Homecoming souvenir from Falkirk, the Vale of Carron Rotary have produced a CD of Burns' and other Scottish songs featuring Cathy Peattie MSP, Airth Primary School and the 133 (Grangemouth) Air Training Corps Pipe Band.  CDs, priced £8 are available from Neil Clark (n.clark3@btinternet.com or tel. 07796 926 556) and proceeds go to local charities.

Additionally, Barbara Davidson Pottery has a range of Robert Burns mugs and glasses to coincide with the celebrations.  Further details are provided on the local events page.

Whether you are researching your ancestors, attending events or just having a relaxing holiday, we are sure you will enjoy your visit to Falkirk in Homecoming Year.
