Homecoming Scotland 2009

Homecoming Scotland 2009 celebrated the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns’ birth. We also celebrated some of Scotland’s great contributions to the world: golf, whisky, great minds and innovations and Scotland’s rich ancestry and culture.

Win a copy of Addressing the Bard

Homecoming Scotland: Celebrating National Poetry Day 8th October, 2009.

Addressing the Bard brings Robert Burns into the 21st century. Ask twelve contemporary poets to respond to Burns, and what do you get? An elegy on an otter and a serious look at the credit crunch; a joyful celebration of female friendship and a swinging satire on current politics; reflections on mice, lice, love, sons and climate change…themes local and universal. The poets take twelve of Burns’ poems as their starting point and move outwards to our tumultuous present circumstances and the everlasting concerns of affection, loss, democracy and, importantly, language. Writing in Gaelic, Scots and English, these poets also comment on Burns’ poems and how they chose to address the Bard.

The Scottish Poetry Library has kindly donated copies of Addressing the Bard for a prize giveaway.

There are three copies to be won. For your chance to win, simply answer the following question:
